Up early and to the museum – which is open today. Spent the whole 8 hours that they are open there, exploring glassblowing (lotsa photos for Shawn) a cave, ceramics, toys, paper, printing, photography, computers, math, telecommunications, food, tunnels, bridges, musical instruments, and pharmacology!!! It was overwhelming and huge. The boat exhibit had 10 full sized boats, from a full masted schooner to a steam tug with the sides cut out so you could see the inner workings; the plane exhibit had over 35 FULL SIZED PLANES. Plus 3 helicopters and a model of the German spacelab!! Like I said, huge!
Good news for us at the end of the day – our local beer gardens was open again. The young couple we sat with this time were from Switzerland – here for a wedding in Dachau tomorrow. Lots of laughs with them, and the guy (who looked a lot like Roy) recommended his favourite restaurant (close by) to us. We walked through it once, and it was full, so we left and looked for dinner elsewhere, but when nothing appealed to us, we went back for a second look. The maitre d” sat us with 4 old guys who looked like regulars – probably no English spoken and looked like a long, boring night. When the food arrived, all of a sudden one of them spoke English and told us all about the food we had ordered and how to eat it; as the evening progressed a young Hong Kong/Korean couple joined us, and by the end of the night we were all good friends – one guy sharing his snuff with me; another buying me a “ladies’ beer” – one guy told us his father had been a prisoner of war Medicine Hat – treated very well, and the guys with him who tried to escape were apprehended by the Indians and taken back to the camp before they froze to death. Lots of buying of beers to and fro and all in all – if we make it to our plane tomorrow morning – a great "last night in Europe" night.
